Cedar Rapids musician leads municipal band and roots in Coe
Shanley, director of jazz studies at Coe College, leads Cedar Rapids Municipal Band in its 74th summer season of free concerts funded by Cedar Rapids. He recalls early music studies, family musicians, and the city’s band history tied to the Iowa Band Law. The band views include budget, community impact, and the joy of sharing music in local parks.
