Iowa cities hospitals and firms spent over 8.4 million dollars on D C lobbyists last year to protect interests in Washington Cedar Rapids Linn County and state agencies rely on Sonnenschein Nath Rosenthal and others amid debate over cost effectiveness and policy influence.
Mary Langowski, a former policy adviser, led Cedar Rapids and Linn County lobbying accounts, with the city and county paying the firm $240,000 for 2008 and 2009 work. Rosenthal aimed to help secure federal recovery money, per disclosure records.
