ISU police evacuated buildings around Frederiksen Court Apartments after a suspicious package was found outside Building 34. Cedar Rapids Man Charged After High-Speed Chase
Cedar Rapids police arrested 34 year old Christopher David Wilson after a high speed pursuit through Cedar Rapids into Johnson County. He faces charges including driving while license revoked eluding carrying weapons methamphetamine paraphernalia and multiple traffic violations. Police say two juveniles attempted to break into a truck on Windy Meadow Lane NE early Monday. A 14-year-old driver with four juveniles aboard led officers on a brief chase. he faces driving while barred and related charges. The 17-year-old was charged with interference and criminal mischief after giving false ID and damaging an interview room. Swea City man charged with voluntary manslaughter in background fight death
Robert Laverty 51 of Swea City was charged with voluntary manslaughter in the April death of Casey Tobin 41 also of Swea City. Tobin was found unconscious April 3 on a Swea City street corner after a believed earlier fight. Laverty was arrested Thursday in the case. Lake Ahquabi death under investigation near Indianola no foul play suspected. Autopsy pending.
