Iowans push Washington for public health option reform
Iowa activists led by Health Care for America Now urge Congress to pass affordable universal health insurance with a public option. Chris Petersen of Clear Lake joined others in Washington noting premium rises, high out of pocket costs, and 170000 uninsured working Iowans. The group argues a public option would curb costs, promote competition, and reduce bankruptcies caused by medical bills.

Various special awards went to the US Marine Corps Band, Navy Titanic, Central Iowa Power Cooperative, Floating 4 the 70s, and Miss Mudweiser as the event recognized patriotism and best-dressed teams.
