Des Moines considers buy option on Ford building
The state received a new offer to rent the Des Moines Ford building with a provision that part of three year rent could be applied to a purchase of 375000 dollars. Donahoe Investment, for Ford Motor Co, proposes 20 cents per sq ft annually about 55000 dollars, while current rents total around 100000 dollars. The 275000 sq ft building sits at Grand Ave and 18th Street and has been repeatedly offered to the state. The interim committee will review the deal with the governor and executive council, with a site inspection slated for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, then postponed.
