Kraschel seeks survey to fix Iowa utility valuations statewide
Des Moines Iowa Gov Kraschel urged the state board of assessment to end relying on guesswork for utility valuations and order a comprehensive survey by engineers and accountants of the physical value of power gas and water utilities in the state. He warned against drastic tax shifts without solid data as current valuations total 57 million and affect local tax shares. The proposal would take months to years to complete with no immediate effect on this year’s assessment.
