Campus Radio Station For ISTC Is Approved
AMES AP Plans of Iowa State Teachers college to operate a campus radio station have been approved by the State Board of Education. The board was told by J. W. Maucker, teachers college president, Friday that broadcasts would be limited to the campus. Maucker said it would cost about 1 400 to set up the station and 1 000 a year to operate it. The station would be staffed and supported by student fees. The board also approved a contract for WOI TV, operated by Iowa State college, to carry American Broadcasting Company network programs for the next two years. The contract would be subject to cancellation by the network on six months' notice. WOI TV is losing Columbia Broadcasting System programs because the network is to affiliate with KRNT TV, Des Moines, which is to begin operation later this summer.

Des Moines city officials disclosed four more officers linked to the beating of 39 year old Jacob Dye. Patrolman Ralph Eckhardt Kenneth Aschim jailers Noland J Nichols and Harold R Mogensen were named along with earlier detectives James L McGuire and Paul A Thomas. Dye, hospitalized in Iowa City, says detectives beat him after he asked them to move a car blocking a sidewalk. He says the beating continued at the police station before jail. The Polk County Bar Association requested the review after Dye reportedly attempted suicide on April 20 and told a nurse he acted because he had been beaten two weeks earlier.

A triple blaze in Waterloo caused major damage. The Waterloo Sand and Gravel asphalt plant lost pumping equipment and fuel oil with 19 000 gallons of asphalt spared.
