Seed Mosaic Artist Don Garrett Gains Recognition
South English artist Don Garrett rose to statewide notice in 1963 for a seed mosaic of the Iowa Seal. The retired North English Record co owner donated the piece to Gov. Harold Hughes and now Gov. Robert Ray uses the office display. Garrett has since created four more seed mosaics, each about 500 hours of work, using diverse seeds and methods to achieve varied textures.
