Two of nineteen convicts who escaped Eastham prison farm near Trinity Texas were recaptured near Groveton. Murderers Jack Forham and George Scott were found after officers located the stolen car abandoned. Six other fugitives were believed in the same area. The escape happened when the group overpowered guard Pike Allen, stole his shotgun, and fled on farm horses and mules.
E R Bowen of New York City told about 10 000 agricultural producer cooperatives at the American Institute of Cooperation that the consumer movement seeks an economic society of peace and plenty for all and will supplant the present competition for profit. He warned the current order is decaying like serfdom once did and urged closer ties with producer groups.
