Ranshaw House Links North Liberty History to City Life
Time Machine recounts the Ranshaw family's rise from 20 acres in John son County to 400 acres and a landmark home at 515 W. Penn St. in Penn Township near North Liberty. Samuel Ranshaw built the 1908 house with gaslights and indoor plumbing, hosted family milestones through the 1910s, and saw the family’s fortunes fade during the Great Depression as the home changed hands after Samuel’s illness and widow Emma’s death.
