Fulbright seeks new hearings on Vietnam policy
Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold new hearings to re evaluate America's Vietnam policy, said chairman J W Fulbright. He criticized Nixon's Midway meeting with Thieu and a speech at the Air Force Academy as confirming fears the Johnson policy would not change. He called the Thieu government a military dictatorship and urged disengagement to pave the way for free elections. Harriman described Thieu as leading a minority government and said little progress was made to broaden political support.
