Cedar Rapids granite broker dies in Amana crossing crash
John E. Lindholm 43 of 2044 Washington Ave SE was killed when his car was struck by a Milwaukee passenger train at the Amana highway No. 149 crossing. The car was carried 600 feet, front damaged, train crew shaken but unharmed. Lindholm, born December 22 1895 in Ortonville Minnesota, operated a Cedar Rapids granite brokerage after moving from Milbank South Dakota in 1938. Survived by wife Eleanor Madison and two children, plus seven brothers and five sisters. Funeral set for Turner chapel with burial in Ortonville Monday. Lindholm was a Navy veteran of World War I and a member of Crescent Masonic lodge and First Presbyterian church.

Vinton Man Nabbed For Drunk Driving Collision
George Tharp of Vinton, 57, is jailed on a drunk driving charge after his 1928 Chevrolet struck a parked machine owned by J. Scolaro at 138 F avenue NW in front of that address. Tim Brody, 36, with Tharp, was fined 25 dollars and costs after pledging guilty to an intoxication charge. Police Patrolmen Funcke and Kofron responded to multiple calls about the accident, and both men required assistance to enter the station.

Man 26 Held For Assaulting Girl On Blind Date
Dave E F Feiercisen, 26, of 1601 Fourteenth Avenue SE, was jailed at 3 30 am Friday on a rape charge. A 21 year old woman accused him of criminally assaulting her in the back seat of his car while her 18 year old date companion sat nearby. The roommate, 21, was picked up later, had agreed to date Feiercisen with the condition the other woman join. The four went to a Solon area spot, bought two pints of alcohol, and drank in public.
