Black bear sighting reported near Yellow River State Forest
The first documented Iowa black bear of the season was photographed near Yellow River State Forest in northeast Iowa. Brian Gibbs captured images at noon from about 200 yards away as the bear wandered a cornfield. DNR forester Bruce Blair and others note prior sightings and consider bears expanding into the state from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
