Geese roundup in Cedar Rapids targets population control
In Cedar Rapids 446 Canada geese were captured from riverbanks and golf courses and funneled into a pen at Robbins Lake. Of these, 285 goslings will be relocated to Hawkeye Wildlife Management Area in Johnson County while 161 adults were scheduled to be slaughtered at Newhall Locker & Processing to feed local food pantries. Officials will monitor the returning of the young birds.
