A study presented by the American College of Sports Medicine in Seattle shows exercisers four days a week report the greatest relief from back pain. They note a 28 percent pain reduction versus 14 percent for two days and improvements in quality of life and disability. The non exercising control group showed little change.
Phyllis Zee of Northwestern University notes sleep deprivation harms memory and health. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends seven hours. Dr. Zee advocates sleep hygiene, avoiding screens before bed, and comforting routines to calm the brain.
