Woman Writer Wounded In Youngstown Riot
New York magazine writer Mary Heaton Vorse suffered a head injury at the Youngstown steel strike riot where a bullet grazed her head. The three hour attack left one dead and twenty six wounded, including six women, as Vorse described the scene with blood streaming down her face. Frederick B. Smith Jr was moved from the steamship President Coolidge in a “triton lung” to a Pullman car for the final leg of his trip to Chicago after infantile paralysis struck him months ago in China.
