Cedar Rapids advocates push for police reform seven demands
Advocates for Social Justice formed from Cedar Rapids protests to demand seven police reform priorities including a citizens review board. City officials backed the plan by Juneteenth, but later tensions over a review board and task force emerged as Andrews and Marcus pursued mayoral and council seats. The effort spurred candidates like Andrews and Marcus to push for broader equity while officials pledged continued work and a new inclusion stance.
