Drowns on Guttenberg Sea Wall While Fishing
Clarence Moulton, 53, Hopkinton farmer, drowned Monday night after slipping from the Guttenberg sea wall into the Mississippi River. His body had not been recovered by 10 a.m. Tuesday amid a search by spotlights and boats. He is survived by his wife Fannie Willard and four children, plus his father Clell, and two brothers.

Earlville Girl Loses Sight in Both Eyes
Miss Mary Ann Mormann of Earlville, daughter of Mr and Mrs La Verne Mormann, lost sight in her right eye after a severe electrical shock during family washing and has now lost vision in her other eye. She is at Mercy hospital in Dubuque where X rays are being taken. Physicians hope this may be temporary. She was a junior last year at Xavier high school in Dyersville.

Phillip McKevitt Dies Vinton Police Chief and Sheriff
Phillip W. McKevitt 79 former Benton county sheriff and Vinton police chief died Monday at the Veterans hospital in Iowa City. A World War I veteran and longtime community leader he served as sheriff 1921 to 1923 and as police chief 1930 to 1937 and was district court bailiff. He was a 46 year Mason. Survived by three daughters, a sister, and five grandchildren. Services Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church with visitation at Fry and Holland funeral home Wednesday 3 to 9 p.m.
