Hot Rod Driver in Jail After Fatal Crash
In Waterloo, 19 year old Fred Bentley pleaded guilty to reckless driving and began a 20 day jail term. His 17 year old friend Robert Clausson remained in serious condition at Iowa City hospital after the wreck Saturday when Bentley's souped up hot rod hit a concrete culvert and overturned. Police said the car had a weighty improvised trunk load and no top or fenders.

Boy 14 Injured When Bicycle Collapses in Newton
Duane Ingle aged 14 of Newton was reported in serious condition at a Newton hospital after a bicycle collapsed as he jumped onto it Saturday. He suffered a brain concussion when he hit the pavement. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Ingle of Newton.
