Flying patrol ties family legacy to Iowa aviation
Dana Knutson, assigned to the Mason City district, recalls the two hour plane ride that sparked his interest in the patrol. His father Dennis served from 1969 to 1999, timing speeders from the air while Bob Knutson logged hours and mentored him. Dana joined the patrol and later moved to the air wing, while Bob’s early flying days and public relations helped recruit others, including Dana.
