Sharon K. Kottman 50 of Monona died Tuesday June 17 1997 at Veterans Memorial Hospital Waukon after a sudden illness. Services 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church burial in church cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 9 p.m. today at Schultz's Funeral Home Monona. Survived by husband Gary daughter Jodi Heins two sons John and Jeremy all of Monona mother Esther Breeser New Albin and sister Katherine Nesheim Waukon.
Dorothy Mae Hasek Krsck, 82, of Norway Iowa died June 17 1997 at St Luke’s Hospital Cedar Rapids after an extended illness. Services 11 a.m. Friday Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Atkins burial Fairfax Cemetery Fairfax friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church Phillips Funeral Home Vinton in charge. She leaves son Karl Debra Krsck of Norway three daughters Betty Jeanne Dale Vogt Atkins Barbara Russell Larson Milwaukee Karen Robert Reiter Dyersville 16 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband Edward J Krsck died 1969 a son Timothy D and three sisters Mildred Morgan Yvonne Hasek Betty Newport. Born Feb 15 1915 in Cedar Rapids to Boleslav and Mary Siska Hasek she graduated Grant High School 1933 and Cedar Rapids Business College. On Aug 16 1939 she married Edward J Krsck in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Norway and in recent years resided at Manor Care Nursing Home Cedar Rapids. Dorothy was a member of the Spanish American War Veterans Auxiliary Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and Fairview Ladies Aid. She enjoyed reading crossword puzzles bingo needlework fishing and travel. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and

Ushers Ferry Historic Village hosts the third annual Grand Celebration Of Brass Bands on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with performances by the Eastern Iowa Brass Band, Illinois Brass Band, Winona Brass Band, Cedar River Brass Ensemble, Saints Dixieland Jazz Band, and Grant Wood All-City Drum Corps plus a mass band finale. Admission is 3 dollars for adults and 1 dollar for ages 6 to 12.
In Des Moines, Senator Tom Harkin earned the highest 80 percent score from the Public Interest Research Group on a 19 vote environmental scorecard. Rep. Tom Latham ranked at 5 percent, with other Iowa lawmakers varying from 63 percent for Jim Leach to 11 percent for Jim Nussle and Charles Grassley. Leonard Boswell was not ranked.
