Motorcyclist hospitalised after crash near Cedar Rapids McDonald’s
Justin Lund a 19 year old from Plymouth Minnesota was seriously injured Saturday when his speeding motorcycle hit the rear side of a minivan turning from the McDonald’s exit onto Edgewood Road in northeast Cedar Rapids. Lund was treated at St Luke's Hospital for multiple injuries with condition not listed last night. Rhonda Mahler of Marion the van driver escaped injury and authorities closed northbound Edgewood for over two hours during the crash investigation. McDonald’s employees said they heard nothing at first but saw smoke from the wreck. Restaurant manager Audra Wharton a motorcyclist herself said sports bikes are hard to stop quickly in a split second.

The Freedom Festival invites volunteers for July 4 on May's Island. Six person teams needed in three shifts 10:15 to 1:15, 1 to 3:15, and 3 to 6. One 12 person team from 5:30 to 8:30 and three 12 person teams from 8 to 11. Teams earn a Freedom Fest T-shirt and a 250 donation per 12 person team to a chosen nonprofit. Train collision injures Masonville man in Delaware County
Joel Baumgartner, 43, was injured when a westbound Canadian National Illinois Central train struck his car at the Candle Road crossing near Masonville at 7 25 p m Friday. He was airlifted to St. Luke s Hospital in Cedar Rapids in fair condition. The train was not moving fast and Baumgartner remained conscious during transport.

Texas Man Charged With Theft In Independence Case
Gregory Robertson, 31, of Arlington, Texas, jailed on $10,000 bond in Denton County for first-degree theft after stealing a pickup from Airtel Communications of Texas. The incident occurred at the Rush Park Hotel in Independence as he had just quit his job and drove the vehicle toward Denton.
