Two months of tests fail to explain why a $50,000 Marion resurfacing on Marion Boulevard from Blairs Ferry Road to the state liquor store deteriorated after last fall. City Engineer John Bender cites heavy stop start traffic and snow removal chemicals as factors while tests by IDOT and contractor B L Anderson Inc. find no specification violations. A separate 35th Street repaving shows similar problems with a different process. Bender plans talks with IDOT to determine fault and repair costs estimated at 6000 to 7000 dollars.
