Iowa crops progress despite cool statewide temperatures
Iowa crops improved in the past week despite cooler than normal temperatures and rain saturated soils in the southeast. The statewide average temperature was 5.7 degrees below normal, while rainfall averaged 0.71 inches. Southeast Iowa faced the most soil moisture, with 50 percent surplus, far above East Central and Northwest Iowa. Corn was 20 percent excellent and 58 percent good. soybeans 15 percent excellent and 60 percent good. Fieldwork averaged 3.3 days, below the recent 4 day norm.
