Southern Baptists quit world Baptist alliance over liberal theology
The Southern Baptist Convention voted to withdraw from the Baptist World Alliance in Indianapolis, criticizing liberal drift. SBC leaders stressed conservative values, echoed by President Bush via video urging support for a constitutional gay marriage ban. The move will cost about 300000 in next year’s alliance budget, though officials said finances were not the motive.
