Organ donation funds not required to tune memorial organ
A district court ruled Iowa State University may not use a nearly 157000 dollar bequest to tune and maintain a historic Memorial Union pipe organ. Ralph Borck donated the funds. Paul MacVey questioned the message to donors as ownership shifted when the union became university property.

Net Baker ruling affects Borck will and organ at ISU
A federal judge ruled Iowa State is not obligated to honor Borck's will after the union's private ownership dissolved. The university will seek a group to take the dust covered organ, with a July 2 hearing to decide whether Borck's money goes to charity or his relatives. Memorial Union officials say the organ no longer fits their mission for current students.

Bank not obliged to repay investor in Mezvinsky case
David Sanders sued PNC Bank for restitution after depositing 250000 into a Mezvinsky account in 1999, hoping for double returns. Magistrate Rueter found no evidence the bank ignored obvious signs or acted in bad faith, noting no compelling reason to investigate Mezvinsky’s suspected misuse.

Mason City Plans 29 Million in City Projects
Mason City reports about 29 million dollars in projects planned, with 3.5 million completed recently. Ongoing work includes a 17 million water treatment plant and up to 6 million for the Northbridge renewal project. The 2.9 million aquatic center was completed, funded mainly by 2 million in bonds. Funding comes from bonds, local option sales, tax revenues, state grants, and tax increment funds. The city holds a 62 million bonding capacity, well above current use, says finance director Kevin Jacobson.
