At Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids two classic combines a 1960s John Deere 55 and an early 70s Gleaner L collided repeatedly tearing metal and ending after about ten minutes. Brad Steffens fair board president said the event drew 3000 fans and prize money offered two $500 top prizes.

Arthur Vesey, 48, of Cedar Rapids faces a new federal trial for selling crack cocaine between October 2000 and July 2001.
