Fort Morgan Colorado reports a Union Pacific Los Angeles Challenger streamliner derailed after a washout on flooded tracks. One crew member died, at least five seriously injured, with many others hurt. Rescue teams used boats to evacuate passengers as 200 feet of track washed away near Wild Cat Creek. The train carried 309 passengers en route from Chicago to Los Angeles before detouring due to high water.

The gun misfired three times during the struggle, as Blaha shouted for help and his wife alerted police. The Houston vice squad raided a daytime two-bit limit poker game and arrested eight housewives aged 45 to 68 after a neighbor’s complaint. They posted $10 bonds and were released.
