Joseph Leib Steinmetz 22 a former divinity student was sentenced to eight to sixteen years in Sing Sing for the slaying of his 17 year old wife Ruth Armstrong Steinmetz of Los Angeles. The couple were shot in the priest's room at the Knights of Columbus hotel last November. He was convicted of first degree manslaughter. no trial for the priest's murder.
