Democrats Propose Chicago Repeal Plank on State Liquor Control

A group of Democratic leaders in Washington drafts a repeal plank aimed at submitting a repeal amendment to state conventions. It would restore state control of liquor manufacture and sale, advancing temperance while leaving saloon decisions to states and deferring details to Congress. The plank has garnered support from several anti alcohol senators and dry advocates ahead of the Chicago convention.

Jean Ballantyne wore an elaborate colonial costume as Sweet Genevieve, with Bruce Lee and a Negro boy performing old southern songs and tap dances. A quartet accompanied, and Miss Frances Norton sang The Last Rose of Summer. Dancers from Edna Dieman's studio, Mary Jane Hubbard and Dick Moore, performed with Dorothy Moore at the piano. The evening closed with humorous readings by W. W. Weatherwax. Guests included Rev. and Mrs. Nelson F. Dreier of Osage and Mrs. A. E. Hartl headed the supper committee.
