Negro Youth Drowns At Manchester Beach
Ernest Lee a 14 year old Negro youth drowned in fifteen feet of water at a bathing beach in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon in the first drowning of the season. His body was recovered half an hour later by Kenneth Coltman. Lee, a fair swimmer, disappeared while in the water with friends. Artificial resuscitation was performed by two doctors and there was very little water in the lungs. The beach was not officially opened. Lee was taken to his former home for burial, possibly Wednesday night. He was the son of R H Lee of Lincoln Nebraska and had come to Manchester to live with his uncle Royal Carriger after his mother died last July.

Announce New Corn Loan Program Today
AP reports in Des Moines that Henry Aaberg assistant secretary of agriculture said details of the new corn loan program will be announced Thursday. AAA officials from nine states met late Wednesday to craft the plan, with twenty five officials present. Davis noted CCC loans of about 13 million dollars under 1934 35 and that the 120 million dollars borrowed on the 1933 corn crop has been repaid at 4 percent interest. Iowa farmers borrowed about 57 million of that amount at 45 cents a bushel.
