Audubon Society criticizes road plan for Squaw Creek Park

Peter Wickham of the Cedar Rapids Audubon Society says the proposed Linn County road through Squaw Creek Park near Marion would destroy its wild character. He plans to ask the Linn County Conservation Board to consider alternatives at a Monday 7 p.m. meeting. The board and Linn County Supervisors have approved over 70,000 dollars for construction, which would route south of Squaw Creek Lodge toward camping areas while bypassing the lake. Wickham urges keeping interior park areas wild and proposes developing only outer sections to limit automobile access.
