Early signs on corn borers fuel cautious outlook
Iowa State entomologist Dave Foster warns it is too soon to gauge corn borer damage as weather and field conditions will decide. Early moth flights may reduce risk by targeting shorter corn, but an extended generation and possible late treatments keep uncertainty high. He notes a second cutworm threat in southeast Iowa and replant pressures from wet conditions.
