Tulip tree planted by Carter dies after rough journey
AP reports a tulip tree planted by President Carter in England during a visit last month died soon after a rough transit from Mt Vernon to Washington and across the Atlantic. Officials say heat, a non air conditioned plane, cold 30 000 feet, and stress likely killed the sapling.
