Annual Shekel Roll Call Tied to Palestine Petition
Announcement by Cedar Rapids Shekel committee chair Mrs. Raymond Klass publicizes the annual Shekel roll call of American Zionists, paired with a petition to Great Britain urging resistance to Jewish rights infringements. About 500,000 American Jews expected to sign and pay 50 cents to vote for American delegates to the World Zionist congress in Switzerland this August. The notice recalls Dr. Theodor Herzl's 40 year old tradition of unity in Zionism and highlights alleged Arab terrorism and restrictions on Jewish immigration and land in Palestine. Local committee names include J. Frankel, M Bugenstein, E. Cohn, Rabbi David Polish, and others.
