Martin Kennedy Jr a Tipton magazine salesman and dealer in old gold was assaulted by five well dressed men seven miles west of Tipton Friday afternoon. The men stopped his Chevrolet and robbed him of five dollars and several gold rings then fled after failing to steal the car. Kennedy was struck with a gun and aided by Mrs Maud Fankhauser who summoned a doctor and the Cedar county sheriff. No trace of the attackers was found.
A possible Iowa City pair blamed for a Friday noon gunfight that wounded Patrolman Hauber fled toward Hanging Rock bridge 20 miles northwest of Iowa City. Deputy Sheriff Preston Koser ordered a police concentration. Descriptions of Cedar Bluff hold up suspects did not match Hauber’s description.

Hoover backed by Bruce McKay outlined layout changes including removing the front portion and re facing walls while preserving the original two room section and porch. The plan calls for a brick chimney new roof and stone foundation with no basement and a door window to join old and new sections.
