Old Brooklyn grocery building torn down by bank
Poweshiek County Savings Bank started removing the three story brick structure that stood since about 1875 after cracks appeared in the walls. Des Moines contractor Anderson-Davis Wrecking Co. carries out the disassembly by hand to avoid a domino effect on adjacent buildings. Bricks push off by hand or crow bars go to a local farm as fill. No plans for the lot were announced.
