Friday estimates show receipts of 500 cattle 5000 hogs and 500 sheep with hogs priced 16 to 17 dollars per hundredweight amid a 75 cent drop. Cattle demand weakens with slaughter steers 25.50 to 28.25 while vealers fetch 25 to 33 and lambs hover around 23 to 25.
Shares ended mixed on Thursday as early gains faded with volume around 3.2 million. The report notes a volatile session in the New York market with notable price movements in eggs and grains and mentions classified ads for extra cash offers.
Des Moines reports Thursday receipts around 45 000, down from last week and year. Hog market shows uneven trade with butchers and sows priced across weight ranges from 10.00 to 16.15 per hundredweight.
Waterloo UPI reports live hog market steady with range on 90.3 pounds at 13.75 to 14.25 per hundredweight. Sow prices 270 to 300 pounds at 13.25 to 13.78, 300 to 330 pounds at 13.00 to 13.50, 330 to 360 pounds at 12.50 to 13.00, and 360 to 400 pounds at 12.00 to 12.50.
Cedar Rapids hog market prices held steady Thursday with plant delivered quotes for good No 2 butchers and sows. Meaty No 1 high yielding butchers and sows were 50 cents over these quotes while No 3 overfats were 50 cents below.

Prices for rye and oats fell with rye dropping 33 to 144 points on reports of rain in the northern Great Plains. Wheat was mostly unchanged, corn fell slightly, and no oats or soybean sales were recorded. Soybean oil at 94.2 cents per pound. Barley marketed at around 1.20 to 1.35 dollars, feed barley 90 to 1.08 dollars.
UPI report from Sioux City notes receipts at 3 000 with no calves. Slaughter steers and heifers show activity and strength. Prices: choice slaughter $27.00 to $27.75, good to low choice $25.00 to $26.75. choice heifers $27.00 to $27.50, good to low choice $24.50 to $26.75.
Omaha Livestock reports 1 700 cattle receipts with calves at 25. Fed steers and heifers ease in the clean-up trade. Good and choice steers bring 24.75 to 27.25 including higher values, while choice heifers sell at 26.25 and 26.75.
Live poultry and processed loaf prices mixed as market shows steady butter and egg movement. California long whites and round reds trade near firm, while New York wholesale eye offerings soften with ample receipts and modest demand. overall market for long whites weaker and round reds unsettled.

At 3 p.m. Civic bureau and Jaycee program committees will meet with Harry Fulks of Peoria, vice-president of the National Lecture bureau.
