Hospital-Specialist Lease Examined in Iowa Trial
A Des Moines trial over a hospital doctor dispute examined a proposed lease for radiologists at Jane Lamb Memorial hospital. Peter J. Alexander testified the agreement would have the hospital appoint radiologists, supply space, pay staff, and bill patients in the radiologist’s name, with fees settled by the hospital board. The case tests whether hiring specialists to operate hospital laboratories constitutes practicing medicine, with Judge Moore signaling a long recess into mid September.
