Taxes Against Pensioners Must Be Held Up
DES MOINES AP Attorney General Fred Everett ruled that taxes on property held by old age assistance recipients must be suspended until the recipient dies or sells the property. Delinquent taxes before certification stay on the books with interest and penalties. after benefit, no interest or penalties accrue, but the tax remains. A separate opinion says CCC discharges do not bar veterans relief if the veteran had an honorable discharge. A county cannot use the anticipatory warrants fund for purchases. that fund is for bond retirement and interest.
