Cedar Rapids couple lose bid for elderly living complex
A Cedar Rapids couple’s plan for Village Southwest Inc a combined nursing home and 66 apartment complex for the elderly was rejected 5-0 by the State Health Facilities Council. The project would add 106 nursing home beds and 66 apartments and include an endowment based life care option. Council members cited sufficient beds in Linn County and concerns over high endowments and ongoing fees. Local nursing homes argued occupancy is already high and that the county has enough beds under state formula.
