University of Iowa sanctions UISDAA for due process failures

The University of Iowa sanctioned the UISDAA student organization for excluding and removing a member without due process, allowing nonstudents in leadership, and lacking a staff adviser. Investigators found no due process for officer removal and that the group barred the member from discussions and channels. UI ordered reinstatement of removed members and updated governance.

Green wins Johnson County supervisor seat in special election

Former Lone Tree Mayor Jon Green a Democrat captured about 66 percent of the vote in Johnson County’s special election, defeating Republican Phil Hemingway and independent Brian Campbell. Green, 38, outlined goals to direct coronavirus relief funds to residents in need and to expand broadband countywide. He will fill the seat left by Janelle Rettig, with term ending December 31, 2022.
