Jazz Maestro Ben Pollack Dies by His Own Hand
Palm Springs sheriff officials say jazz drummer Ben Pollack 87 known as Father of Swing ended his life with a suicide in his Palm Springs home bathroom. He had moved to the Southern California desert five or six years ago after a career spanning the 1950s with leaders like Goodman and Miller. Pollack was divorced in 1957 from Doris Robbins.
