Senators defend Case bill against CIO critique
Six senators from both parties issued a joint statement affirming that CIO President Philip Murray’s analysis shows the union group opposes any restriction on strikes. The dispute reflects broader Washington contention over the Case measure which would set mediation, facts finding in utility disputes, sue unions on contracts, and curb racketeering claims. House petitions pro and con veto circulate while the White House reports about 3,000 telegrams daily to President Truman on the bill.
