Eiffel Tower space art sparks astronomer backlash
The Eiffel Tower Co plans a 1989 Light Ring orbiting 480 miles up to 15 miles wide using 100 Mylar spheres to rival the moon in the night sky. Astronomers led by David Crampton oppose it saying it would blot out distant stars for up to three years. Some scientists warn legal limits may not exist to halt the project.
