Grain Prices Stand Until Next June 30
An Agriculture Department official said on Friday the grain ceiling price schedule will keep increases of 15 cents per bushel through June 30, 1947. The move follows a May 18 announcement intended to provide an ample yearly allowance, despite Sen. Butler urging a famine emergency bonus for this year’s wheat. Butler warned farmers risk losses if guaranteed against future price increases, and reports say large quantities of wheat are being lost in the southern belt due to the department’s stance.
