Iowa districts weigh hours versus days for school year
Iowa districts assess switching to hours or days as new law raises full instructional day to six hours and 1,080 hours or 180 days for a year. Lawmakers push wide VA reform amid wait-time crisis
Senators Sanders and McCain back a broad VA reform bill to expand the secretary's firing power, fund 26 facilities in 18 states, and spend 500 million to hire doctors and nurses. The measure would extend education benefits to spouses of fallen service members and guarantee in state tuition for veterans. A bipartisan push aims to let veterans seek private care if wait times exceed limits or travel over 40 miles.
