Paratroop Landing In France Opens D Day Series
Wright Bryant reports from London on the first Allied paratroopers landing in German-occupied France. In the initial hour the spearhead met scattered small arms fire as 17 American paratroopers led by a lieutenant colonel jumped with arms and gear into northern France. The journey for air crews and ground support showed weather checks, briefing sessions, and Ike visiting the camp as Major Richardson urged his men to fight.
