PLO mutineers clash with loyalists in Bekaa Valley

In Bekaa Valley near Baalbek, PLO loyalists and mutineers led by Saeed Mousa exchanged artillery and mortars for about an hour. Eight were killed and 17 wounded, including four Lebanese. fighting tied to a supply route amid mounting internal PLO tensions. Arafat sought outside support after mutiny begun May 7.

Court order bars strikers from interfering at Wilson

Soviet expel U.S. diplomat for espionage in Moscow

The Soviet government ordered Louis Thomas, a U.S. Embassy attache, to leave Moscow after Tass cited KGB evidence of espionage. Tass said he was caught red handed during a spy action on June 2 and declared persona non grata. Embassy spokesman Franklin Tonini confirmed his expulsion.
