Thirty Years Service Packs Century Of Thrills For Sergeant Melton
Sergeant William Melton, a career soldier of the line, nears retirement after thirty years of service including two wars, postings from coast to coast, and duty in the Philippines and Europe. He recalls battles with Moros, a daring escape on Mindanao, a hip wound, and a typhoon voyage to France. Now stationed in Cedar Rapids as an army recruiting officer, he plans to settle in the Ozarks near Hot Springs with his wife, pursuing fishing and gardening away from the service.
